Our Services

Comprehensive Oral Evaluation

A comprehensive oral evaluation is recommended every six months to prevent cavities and other dental problems. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends children visit the dentist within six months of getting their first tooth or by their first birthday.

Dental Cleanings (prophylaxis)

Regular dental cleanings help keep gums healthy and teeth cavity-free. A dental cleaning includes removal of tartar and plaque, as well as polishing of the teeth to remove stains and prevent build up.

Radiographs

Dental x-rays are a valuable diagnostic tool used to identify decay, extra teeth, bone defects, tumors, cysts, and to follow up on previous procedures. Dental x-rays are a key component to completing a comprehensive oral examination, and they are a standard of care. The type and frequency of radiographs is determined by the dentist after reviewing cavity risk, history of missing teeth in the family, or any other concerns the dentist or family may have.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride is a safe natural substance that helps strengthen enamel to protect against cavities, and it also helps prevent sensitivity. Fluoride is an important component of pediatric dental treatment and is recommended. Fluoride is applied to the teeth with a paintbrush in a varnish form.

Dental Sealants

Prevention is one of the most important parts of dental care. Dental sealants are a thin layer of material that seals the deep grooves on teeth to help prevent food and plaque from getting stuck, therefore helping to prevent cavities. Sealants have been proven to reduce the risk of cavities by 80% when placed on permanent 6 year molars and 12 year molars.

Restorative Treatment

Cavities in baby teeth can cause pain, swelling, and infection, as well as damage to the permanent teeth. For these reasons, they are important to treat. Our office has multiple options for restoring cavities and preventing them. We offer dental sealants, white tooth colored fillings, stainless steel crowns, as well as extractions as needed. We also will work with your child’s orthodontist if there is anything they need to help progress your child’s orthodontic treatment.

Minimally Invasive Treatment

Sometimes, less is more. Children are all unique, and so are their teeth and their cavities. Our office offers some minimally invasive treatment options to allow for different treatment modalities in addition to conventional dental treatment. Some of the minimally invasive treatment options include: Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF), ICON Resin Infiltration, Atraumatic Restorative Technique (as well as Silver Modified Atraumatic Restorative Technique), and Hall crowns. If you would like more information on any of these treatment options, please contact our office to see if your child would benefit from these treatments.

Laughing Gas (Nitrous Oxide)

Laughing gas, or Nitrous Oxide, is a mild sedative that reduces anxiety, reduces pain, and it helps reduce the gag reflex. Our office offers nitrous oxide for our patients to help make a more comfortable atmosphere for treatment

General Anesthesia

Occasionally children may have extensive dental work and may not tolerate treatment in a conventional dental chair and office setting. We can provide comprehensive oral care under general anesthesia in an operating room with the safety of an anesthesiologist to safely complete your child’s dental work.
